There is more to Lake Havasu City than just great Arizona weather year round. The Refuge, a 180 acre gated community built around an 18-hole Arnold Palmer signature golf course, features 360 homes. Over 2.3 Million tourists, possessing an average household income exceeding $79,000, generate over one-half Billion Dollars annually in additional spending into the Lake Havasu area.
Wolford Development, known for using methodical research to uncover the country’s most affluent yet underserved demographics, developed The Shops at Lake Havasu City, its first open air, lifestyle center. The Shops at Lake Havasu mall provides over 750,000 square feet of fashion, home-furnishings, entertainment, and dining with Dillard's, JC Penney, PetSmart, Walmart Supercenter, Michael’s and a 10-plex theatre.
Lake Havasu City is more than just a tourist destination. The attributes cited most often for it are pleasant climate, low crime rate, attractive and affordable housing, fishing and water sports, arts and entertainment, and a great environment for raising a family. Not surprisingly, in 2007 Relocate-America.com listed Lake Havasu City among its Top 100 locations.
In 2008, The Business Journal set out to identify America’s Dreamtowns—the nation's most attractive micropolitan areas. It gave the best marks to well-rounded communities with light traffic, healthy economies, moderate costs of living, impressive housing stocks, strong educational systems, and easy access to big-city attractions. Bizjournals used a 20-part formula to rate each market's quality of life. Lake Havasu City was on this coveted list of America’s Dreamtowns.
